I've been a BB user for about 2 years now and I'm currently using the 8900.

I was reading the Vacation article the other day where the editor was talking about how he brings an extra BB when he goes on vacation. In the article he talks about all these different reasons why he 'needs' to stay connected - without actually going into detail with what he does on his BB. But it's like he's using it non-stop and uses it for a enormous amount of things.

Which brings me to my question, what do you do on your BlackBerry? And don't skimp on the details. I'd like to get the most of out my BB. First, what it can do out of the box, then I can worry about 3rd party apps later.

Anyways, here's what I use my BB for:
    - Email, I have about 4 different email addresses sync'd up
    - Texting
    - BBM
    - GPS when I'm travelling
    - Web (Not that often because the Native browser isn't that great)
    - Alarm
    - Listening to music
    - Taking pictures (not that often though because it's really really slow)
    - I have my appointments, tasks, & calendar sync'd up with Exchange & BES - but I have a lot of issues with that - appointments that I enter in Outlook won't show up in my BB, etc.)

    Apps that I use:
    - Poynt
    - Twitter
    - Facebook (although not that often because the app has issues)
    - Xobni
    - ScoreMobile
    - itookthisonmyphone
    - Opera mini
    - Appworld (Not very often because it's so slow, sluggish and Kevin's revamped version is much much better)

I feel like I could be doing much more with my BB - and that's why I posted this, to get some ideas on how other people are using theirs and if I could add to my list.

To add to this, I use my BB as an organizer. I love using the Calendar, helps me remember things

It's funny how the BlackBerry is a smartPHONE and "phone calls" wasn't on your list at all.

    For me:
    #1 E-mail
    #2 Phone Calls
    #3 Texting/AIM/BBM
#4 Alarm or Clock, when it's in its charging pod

Daily-use: Viigo (acts like my mobile newspaper), Bloomberg Mobile, DriveSafe.ly, SportyPal (running), Docs To Go, PocketInformant (calendar and things-to-do)
Non-Daily: Sprint Nav, BB/Google Maps, Poynt, SearchIt, Flickr

    email
    sms
Opera Mini (only browser worth using IMO)
    music
a few games - Pinball Deluxe, Snake, Asteroid Blast
    GPS while driving/boating
When I am out of the dock on my boat (there is wifi in the marina) I use my berry as a modem for my laptop
camera (with photobucket mobile and imgEdit)
Video (when high quality video isn't necessary)
    weather forecast
bedside clock & alarm on the boat (use an alarm clock at the house)
    taking notes
    storing passwords

I would be lost without my Blackberry

Yeah, I hardly ever make calls anymore. I actually changed my plan so I could have less day time minutes. More data! More texts! & MOAR BBM!

    Wow, that's an awesome list.

I have a couple questions though:
    - How do you use your berry as a modem? Threading? Is there threading for the 8900?
    - When taking notes, do you look them up later in Outlook? or do you use Outlook synchronization at all?

    Thanks!

-It is called tethering You can tether with any Blackberry, including the 8900. With the carrier I use (T-Mobile) you get tethering for free as part of your plan. With Rogers or other carriers, you would either have to pay extra monthly to your service provider or use a tethering application such as Tether for BlackBerry - Utilities BlackBerry Apps - Crackberry BlackBerry Apps Store .

-Sorry, but I don't use outlook. I usually just review my notes from my Berry's screen.

What I use my phone for and what apps I have would be two very long lists
so I'll come at this a different way. What I don' use my phone for.

    1) Music - the media function and sound quality is atrocious

    2) Alarm clock / watch - I have a real alarm clock and I love the quality
and workmanship of a well made automatic or mechanical watch.

    3) Texting - I hate texting. I have made that abundantly clear in the past.

    4) As a substitute computer - never would work.

    5). As my primary line.

Other than those I use every function extensively and my 3rd party apps
makes it easier to do as some of them fix things RIM should have 8 years ago.

I really don't see what everyone's problem is with the media player. It is much easier to use than a scroll-wheel iPod. A few button presses and your at your desired Artist/Song/Album. Of course the speaker quality is terrible, but I notice little difference from an iPod through headphones/external speakers. Not to brag, but my headphones and speakers aren't cheap either.

My blackberry is mostly used for web **** (twitter, facebook, myspace, video/photo capture/uploading, lurking on Crackberry forums), SMS (twitter, saves data), least used function is voice. Games/apps are used when needed.

I could go for a powerful dumbphone (they're getting smarter tho) and use all of the above easily the same way too.

So there's bound to be a dumbberry soon in the making just WAITING to be released into the wild...

    I still <3 my berry.
