I love the idea of having a choice. I just don't see the need to have both versions installed. Given the finite storage space, I'd prefer to simply have the best of what's available once and leave room for other apps.

Pretty sure BlackBerry put in some code to prevent BlackBerry users from doubly installing BBM on their phones.
I don't think there has been a single confirmed case where BBM for Android works on BB10 devices.

Made the opposite experience myself.

After installing skype preview from BlackBerry World, Snap wouldn't allow the installation of Skype for Android, because 'an app with the same name is already installed'.

It would have been nice to install both the BlackBerry and Android versions for better comparison between apps that exist on both platforms, but no luck so far.

Two BBM are not possible. I tried this many times but it's not really possible based on my experience. I hope someone could find ways to install two bbm's on their BlackBerry phone.

Install app, tap OUTSIDE the box when warned about Google Play Services.

Run patch from BlackBerry World:
