Is there something more sinister to blackberry media bashing?
- And many of the so-called "RIM bashing" stories are also true. Not all, and many do have a negative tone, but in most cases the underlying facts are correct. Yet, you seem okay with completely ignoring even the undisputed facts of a story because you don't like the tone. Facts arent subject to a cafeteria plan; you don't get to accept what you like and dismiss what you don't.02-03-12 10:45 AMLike 0
- Everybody, everybody, the police state is for your own good. You see, there's a terr'ist under every bed who HATES you and wants to kill you because of your "way of life," your pretend freedom. I'm on my way to Home Depot right now for some plastic sheeting and duct tape. The Departmant of "Homeland" Security said I could use it to fend off a biological attack. And I don't know about you, but I still check my mail EVERY DAY for white powdery substances ...

Welcome to the future, just a tiny tiny example:
British Tourists Detained, Deported For Tweeting 'Destroy America' (VIDEO)
It's taken a few Columbines and other situations in which people have openly expressed taht tehy're going to blow something up, no one does anything, and then people die. I guess when you work in a school in which someone threatens to stab someone and then you find yourself applying pressure to a slashed throat while you're getting bled all over...only to find out a couple of teachers heard this threat and didn't take it seriously. Wellll...I was a bit tad pissed. The kid lived, but I ruined a nice white shirt.
This was a case of semantics gone horribly wrong.
My daughter jokingly posted on Facebook that she was so mad about the dresscode at her school that she was going to stab someone or wanted to stab someone or could stab someone (forgot which was she exactly worded it of the three). She was suspended for three days. Is this wrong even though she wasn't serious about stabbing someone?
While I don't want to live in a police state and all that. I am okay with authority taking perceived threats more seriously.02-03-12 10:58 AMLike 0 -

A police state would want back doors in all connected devices and most have it, one that doesn't is blackberry. It's in their interest to push the general public off them. And how do they do that? The answer is propaganda, proven to work time and time again in history.
Rim is receiving far too much media attention and not just tech sites, that is an undisputed fact. Another fact is a lot of people with unusual privacy(movie stars, celebrities, bankers, politicians etc) to guard are using blackberry.02-03-12 11:10 AMLike 0 - Tre LawrenceBetween RealitiesA lot of said people use iOS devices too though. Where does that leave them?
I don't know that RIM is getting an unwarranted amount of attention. Apathy towards the brand seems to be a bigger problem.

The world didn't stop producing dictators.
When you live with all aspects of your life controlled you will to spot the signs.
So is USA monitoring international twitts? Oviously yes but many people would tell you to get your tin hat on just for that.02-03-12 11:41 AMLike 0 - It must be a stressful life to live, always watching over your shoulder for surveillance vans and men in trenchcoats, deleting cookies and histories after visiting any website, living underground and isolated for fear of satellites tracking your every movement.
I, for one, have enough on my plate. What with providing for my family, being the best role model I can be for my son and soon to be daughter (not to mention just keeping myself alive everyday in a dangerous industry) to worry about who or what, may or may not be, "watching" me.02-03-12 12:00 PMLike 0 - No... that would be silly.
This thread states that shadowy media chiefs along with Amazon, Google and Apple along with a consortium of world states are after RIM because BlackBerry devices purportedly do not have backdoors. Their preferred method of attack is the "bash."
*sigh* how is that you are not able to keep up?02-03-12 12:05 PMLike 0 - Tre LawrenceBetween Realities

- Oh no, life is far more enjoyable when one is so paranoid that they are constantly worrying about what they've done and how the government is going to get them for it.
In fact, the word crack is in the board name...zomg the DEA may think we are all making berries with crack content to addict the unsuspecting populace! They're coming to take us away!
Sorry, I'd rather not live in fear. If the government wants to come get me, oh well.
I can't imagine living a life where I'm so paranoid I'm constantly covering my tracks. It must truly suck to live on that kind of constant fear.
And honestly to naively assume RIM can't backdoor your device? If they wanted to, I'm sure they could in a millisecond.

- Right before the full-force rise of the National Socialists in Germany, there were some Jews who saw it coming and had the foresight to pack their bags and get the he// out. Then there were others who said things like this quote of yours ...02-03-12 02:50 PMLike 0

It's the fact that the back door exists, never mind the apps.
What if they had a key to your house back door?
But it's ok, tyranny doesn't exist, police states don't exist, dictators don't happen. Keep believing that.
I believe in freedoms, to include freedom of speech, but I also feel that with these freedoms come with responsibilities. Feel free to bash whatever company you desire, but only use FACTS when doing so.
To the naysayers on here, it's not about constantly looking over your shoulder, but making informed, wise decisions about what you do, where you go, and the 'services' that you use.Last edited by Mr.Willie; 02-03-12 at 10:45 PM.
