So at work, I use vmware virtual machine with XP and Tether so that I can browse websites that my corp firewall blocks... I noticed that some sites, like forums, say 'your ip has been blocked by administrator'... so I run a whatsmyip lookup and see that 70% of the time when tethering, my IP is Ft Lauderdale florida, and 30% it's new york city. I'm in Canada on Bell.

How is the ip address assigned when tethering? And why would some sites not like that Ft Lauderdale ip?

    odd.

It depends on the BIS/BES server that you are currently connected to. that would supply the "location" deal.

And there are certain sites that do not allow streaming media form other regions. I know that for a fact. There is a site that frequently visit that ends in .co.uk and i cannot stream media via tethering . but if i am on Wi-Fi it works perfectly.
