Tethering Bold 9000 with Mac over bluetooth (4.6.0.247)
-
- mine works like a charm! on tiger with blackberry bold at&t straight out of the box... didn't change a single thing and followed the instructions! added the tethering plan to my acct just cause i'm scared of the $3,000+ bills i read about online... will try it for the month, and if i don't like it - i'll take it off!07-08-09 10:36 PMLike 0

- Can anyone with ATT confirm whether doing this without a tethering plan runs up extra charges on your bill or not?
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com07-09-09 12:12 AMLike 0 - I'm having a few issues and wondering if anyone can help.
I'm not in a 3G area at the moment. My Bold reads EDGE with 4 bars.
I installed the PPPD patch before anything, then paired the devices successfully. However, I can't seem to select under modem other Vendor: Blackberry 3G CID1. Instead, I only get a Verizon option. I also tried using generic 3G and it didn't work.
I'm wondering if the problem is the fact that I'm not in a 3G area when I paired my mac and Bold. I'm thus not getting the correct modem script?
Any help appreciated.07-09-09 12:16 AMLike 0 - This worked perfectly on my first Bold but now on my second it won't let me change the Vendor from Generic or the Model from Bluetooth LAN, these options seems to have greyed themselves out when trying to do a Bluetooth set up... any ideas anyone?07-18-09 04:15 AMLike 0
- Hi csete,
Thanks for your good work
Sorry to bother you but can you/anyone see where the problem would appear to lie in my setup. I believe I've followed all the instructions, updated the PPPD. Re-paired the phone etc and all to no avail.

They seem to use "orangeinternet" and blank username and password fields.
Many thanks

Anyone managed to get this working on Orange, UK?

http://forums.crackberry.com/f62/how...solved-260401/07-22-09 05:31 PMLike 0 - The code is from the PPP log to try and track down the reason for not connecting.
For a while, it almost appears if it's connected then it finally gives up. This made me wonder if it's simple the AP name/username/password combination.
Thanks for trying but I have all the pairing etc working, it is the negotiation that appears to be failing and unfortunately, that link doesn't have any info for Orange UK.
Any other thoughts?

Help i keep getting a PPP negotiation error:
- This error is most likely being caused by the connection being between the Blackberry and the Mac over the PPP going to fast. Thanks to Et-Setera this problem has been solved.
Go to: Et-Setera BlackBerry Bold PPPD Replacement and download the installation package. Once the package is installed the error should be no more.
NOTE: THe PPPD patch is for Intel mac only.
I'm not sure what Orange is, but your AP name/username/password combo may be found in here: Carrier specific APN/TCP settings - BlackBerryFAQ
Sorry if this is repeating stuff you already tried or knew.07-22-09 07:04 PMLike 0 - hmmm what AP name/username/password combo are you trying to use?

07-22-09 07:23 PMLike 0 - Got it!!
Well, in all of Orange's literature and elsewhere on the web, the APN is "orangeinternet" and the username and password fields are blank.
However, thanks to another post I found on here I tried "user" and "pass" respectively and am now up and running.
I cannot categorically say whether the PPPD patch made a difference or not because it looks like I had the wrong username and password, and maybe when I get some time I'll roll back to the std PPPD and try again to help others (BUT right now I'm just delighted it's working)
Thanks to everyone who suggested hints and tips, much appreciated.07-22-09 07:25 PMLike 0 -
- Yep, those were the ones listed on this international TCP site I found.
Here are many international APN/TCP settings for anyone interested:

Glad you got it working.07-22-09 07:31 PMLike 0 - I don't have a tethering plan, and it still works. I just wouldn't go around downloading movies and stuff07-22-09 09:48 PMLike 0
- Hi all,
I'm using two different MBA's, a rev 1 and a rev 2, running 10.5.7 with the modified PPPD. I've got a Bold running .282. I get 100% connection and functionality on Orange France (12 for 12), with no added options script. Without the modded PPPD, I never managed to get connected with any .2xx rev and these computers. Thanks csete!
If anyone cares, I'm using Orange's recommended APN settings(Orange/orange/orange), without any kind of tethering contract, just with their default BB data plan (BIS and unlimited WAP surfing - Orange France does not give you the BB Browser, as far as I can tell).Last edited by big_adventure; 07-23-09 at 05:30 PM.
07-23-09 05:27 PMLike 0 - Hey,
I have read this entire thread to try and figure out why tethering doesn't seem to want to want to work. I have installed the new scripts and followed the set by step guide on ** to set it up and im still getting the pppd error. For Vodafone UK i have tried
tel:wap.vodafone.uk
username: [email protected]
p/w : user
and also tried
vodafone,
user: wap
p/w wap
Any ideas why im still getting this error.
I have a MacBook Pro running 10.5.7 and bold running .282. Any help would be much appreciated.
