What exactly is tethering? How is it different from bluetooth?
Tethering if physically plugging in your berry to the computer and using it as a modem.
Bluetooth is done by a signal from the phone to computer and no cables are used

thanks for the link SK. Very interesting read....i was just curious, how was fast was the service? same as an edge network i assume?
Just be aware that most US carriers charge a fee for tethering and many of them monitor their network traffic to try to stop people from using the above meathod to tether without paying the fee. Getting caught can result in being charged for the unauthorized access - at the full data rate price which means a HUGE bill - or even suspension/cancellation of services.
That said, I *believe* T-mobile is the exception to the above and they allow free tethering for all their BB customers. But please check with them to be sure. I'd hate for you to end up paying for it if I'm wrong ;).
No need to tell me! I pay for mine. :D
Me too :). That was aimed mainly at the OP and anyone else who reads the thread. There seems to be a lot of people out there who want everything for free and they read the tethering link you posted and think "cool, free tethering". Then six weeks later they get hit with an $800 bill and make another post about how horrible and greedy their carrier is lol.
