That's not a slogan. That's a statement. There's a difference.

A slogan is written by the marketing department and put to song. A statement is a summary of corporate belief. If you don't trust phones made in China then your only options are Android phones built in Korea or Japan. Better?

I thought Google (along with hardware OEM's, which provide drivers) are what a phone needs to 'communicate' with the outside world.

BlackBerry just provides apps. Much the same way Samsung provides TouchWiz, or other pre-loaded apps.

No. BlackBerry provides the complete software package, including the BlackBerry-Android hardened OS.

This is very easy to do, all you have to do is in-bed the code on an on-board chip. Any software comes after and would not catch it........

I am not saying this is happening, but to do it is very easy.

One last point, when I was in the US Navy years ago this became an issue. The phone came from the US Government but had spyware/chips. So in the end this kind of spying is not just done, but will have a direct target or targets.

Certainly Blackberry had this downside on their radar and took appropriate steps when they made the choice to go the Android route. I highly doubt the cons list of going to Android didn't include "phoning home spyware". If they didn't think this one through then there is no way you can claim to have a secure Android.

Yes, it is better.

As for the "statement"... "a rose by any other name would" stink as ... sweet.
It does not explain why it is secure. It merely states a belief.
In engineering and science beliefs are not worth much unless fully supported and demonstrated by measurements.

Do you think they collaborated with Putin?

Same goes for BlackBerry and the TLC phones.

BlackBerry has proven that it doesn't have enough resources to ensure security.

Even Chen used to say that you can't have secure software without controlling the hardware.
