A friend of mine in CA just contacted me in a panic. She went to order her new Z10 from T-Mobile and was informed by the sales rep that WiFi calling wasn't available on the new BlackBerry. I had heard that WiFi calling was going to be available but after launch, is this true? If so, what sort of time frame is it likely to be?

the website doesn't list it when you compare models on the site. so i don't think it's available. maybe in the future.

They have said that it won't be available at launch, but are working on adding it in the future. There was no time table announced.

Make sure you have the latest version of BBM and are in a WiFi zone, and then anyone who has the newest BBM version and is also in a WiFi zone can talk for free! It doesn't use your minutes or their minutes, so you are talking for free over WiFi. When you are chatting with them, and you are both on WiFi, there is a green icon in the top right, and if you click it, it will call the person, and you will hear a nice little ringtone (not the usual phone one). It works very well, and is great for people who are calling friends or family in other countries so they don't have to pay roaming or overage charges.

I don't think a lack of WiFi calling on T-Mobile will affect BBM Voice... I think it will only affect UMA calling on T-Mobile, for regular phone calls not placed through BBM Voice.

Thanks for all the responses. I was told a couple of months ago that it would be available sometime after launch but suddenly everyone at T-Mobile that I know has no clue what's going on! I'll assume for now that it's coming "sometime".

Hey does anyone know when the software update is going to happen for tmobile w bbz10/bbq10 i am a old time bb user and tmo customer, in a black hole w no service in my neighborhood really wanting to upgrade to bb10, current have a bold 9900 want to get q10 when out next month but will have no service because bb10 did not lauch w UMA or wifi calling, i will have no choice but to jump to ATT and leave BB behind forever! I cant wait 6mos for a software update like they did for the 9900. Does Anyone have anyupdated news for me?
