I would think he would be onsite if for no other reason than to assist in the transition. Likely that would be part of his exit settlement.

When you step down as the CEO does it mean you have to leave the company or do you take a lower level position?

Most likely he will leave BlackBerry. You don't ever want to demote a CEO, it confuses people and undermines the new CEOs position.

That makes sense. I was just wondering, as I am in the public sector.

Maybe they should wrap him up nicely and give him to Apple/Google/MS as an early Xmas present.

When your severance package is $22 million, using the word "unemployed" seems a little off.

Whatever the exit package is, us nor the point here. Yes, he and his family will not starve. I am trying to learn about the process.

He's still the CEO (hidden since the selling Blackberry news) and of course he will not stay in the company. He's leaving with a lot of money

...so that studens could learn what exactly not to do as a CEO or else they may destroy otherwise very good company.

He may be leaving with severance, but I highly doubt that's what he wanted, I would imagine that he would rather be at the helm of a company that had a successful turnaround than leave under these circumstances. I think a lot of people believe in bb10,, I just don't think the message has gotten out there, whether anyone could have done that I don't know.. getting some of those key apps I think would solve a lot of BlackBerrys problems

DId he get fired or laid off. If he was laid off he will only have to wait 2 weeks to apply for Employment Insurance. Poor fella.

Well, this is a little unfair to place all the blame at TH's feet since the lack of vision by Mike and Jim in recognising the impact of Apple and Android to the smartphone industry, coupled with the dilution of resources to build the PlayBook instead of getting out BB10 on time are the main reasons BlackBerry is where it is.

You can lay at his feet the decision to release the Z before the Q, the very poor marketing, and the botched roll-out of all the BB10 products..

He will get employment doing speaking sessions and business/leadership events for years to come. He will continue to make millions even after leaving BlackBerry. Capitalists look after one another.

I would say sell for, I dunno, maybe 55mil

Android and iPhone fan better thank BlackBerry for making their phone better. I prefer subscribers, not followers.
