Today I received a replacement 8310 from At&T under warranty. My existing 8310 has 4.5 on it and I will upgrade the new one to the same. In a previous post, I was advised that I should update the OS on the new one to 4.5 and THEN run the switch device wizard.

Ok...I have a few concerns. First, when I connect the new device to the computer and start DM, the software is going to attempt to sync. Im afraid that when it sees no info/data on the device (since its brand new) that the sync is going to think that I deleted everything and therefore delete everything on my sync files in Outlook on the computer.

Should I use crackmem to brick the new device before I upgrade the OS?

Do I need to have the SIM card and memory card in the new device before updating the OS? What about during the switch device wizard? do i need to switch these cards back and forth?

Any step-by-step outline would be greatly appreciated!!!

Let it sync because you should not brick you phone if it's brand new.

Use Crackmem, but not to Brick!

You can have the sim/memory card in while upgrading.
