Oh, Blackberry. I've had you only a week and I already hate you.
Everything was going fine. I've been syncing my Outlook calendar and desktop with no problems until last night. That's when the Desktop Manager 6 said there was a BB software update. Fine, I did the update. Now my device's address book is empty save for one contact repeated 10 times and the Desktop Manager says the Address Book is not installed. I did a full restore and that had no impact on the device's address book, though it reversed everything else on my BB by about 24 hours.
I rolled it back using the Desktop Manager V6. Go to Device/Device Update/ and look for a button that says "View Other Versions." Then just choose the earlier version from the list.
After the device rolls back, which will take a while, I think you still have to check the box next to Address Books under "Organizer." If it's grayed out, click on "Configure Settings."
I have a 9550 Storm 2 with nothing but sync issues since 5.0.0.1015 and Desktop Manager 6.0. I have spent over 10 hours dealing with sync issues and chasing error 0x80043ac9 which has no clean answer on any forums. I think I am going to do a rollback as well. Thanks RIM for taking a page out of Microsoft's book on testing.
I rollbacked also. it did not eliminate the address book not installed error for me. I loaded my gmail account and installed my contacts over the air. I now have my phone book back. BB has one unhappy customer here.
Dear Mrbber, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. ive been sitting with this for 2 days now and finally im able to sync contacts onto by bb.
i still however am not syncing perfectly as "cannot connect to yahoo server" error msg comes up on my desktop manager everytime I sync (but im still able to access my yahoo acc perfectly). am i doing something wrong here?
After some playing around, I found that KB23978 as mentioned by DrWeir worked for me. I couldn't use an older backup, as that just messed up my contact list. I also first cleared my contact list completely on the Blackberry before I made the backup, and re-synced it with my outlook afterwards. Here is the link to the KB : KB23978-BlackBerry Desktop Software 6.0 displays address book or calendar as not installed within Organizer
