When I'm at my computer at work, I don't need all of my emails going to my BB.
Is there an easy way to turn the messages being received by the BB on/off (like you can easily mute the ring tones)?
    Thanks!

You can it by setting Data Service to Off

Connections / Mobile Network Options / Data Services.

This affects all applications that requre data, including third party applications.

I use Outlook as my primary email client. When I am away from the computer, I will set it to disable the normal checking interval, that insures all messages are recieved on my BlackBerry, but they will still be saved in Outlook when I re-activate the setting.

If you just want to mute the notifications, just choose the Quiet profile.
