I probably would too if it was going to have 3g. Not so much for speed but for the simultaneous voice/data.

Check around CB for model #9220. I think there is a very good chance that is going to end up on ATT. From what I have heard, the best of both worlds (9000 and 8900).
Well I just found out from AT&T that I will be eligible for an upgrade in April, so I only have to wait 3 months instead of another year. Funny thing is, I *shouldn't* be eligible that soon since I upgraded this past April. But the guy triple- and quadruple-checked and assured me it was correct. He even had the correct contract upgrade date and checked with his manager...same thing...eligible in April even though contract runs until April 2010. Weird.
So I'm just gonna bide my time and see what kind of sweet deal I can get then. And the AT&T guy told me since mine is the primary phone, it's eligible for bigger discounts. I didn't know that.
I have to say that I think if you can and should do it, then go for it. I personally wouldn't just because I know myself. i would pay full price for this one and when the next one came out I would HAVE to have it too. it never stops
Go for it!

If you have the money to burn go for it if that's what you want.
I was where you are, a month or so ago. I want a BOLD very badly! So much so that I was willing to perhaps buy it with no contract. I really can't afford to do that, though, so it would not have been a good decision for me.
I prayed for strength. My prayers were answered. I'm glad I waited. I have two (2) weeks left, and the wait didn't kill me. I spent a month learning about the device and purchasing accessories. A BB is like a new baby — they should have "Blackberry Showers" for "expectant" users. See my new "crib" below.

I'm not a believer in telling folks how to spend their cash — but if you can wait, you will save money that can be used towards accessories/software. If you won't miss the money, then...get your phone now.
It's hard. I know.
If you can afford it, why not? Seems like you'll be happier for it :)
The way I see it! If you got the choppy then spend it!

If your thinking about upgrading just for the 3G I wouldn't do it. To be frankly honest the browser is extremely slow and needs a lot of work. I never use it (other than browsing various wap sites) because it's incredibly frustrating. It doesn't really make voice quality that much crisper either IMO. The keyboard, screen, and faster proc are worth the upgrade though, if your cash is burning a hole in your pocket ;)
If you get an upgrade in april, i'd say wait 3 months! Time passes by really fast.
If you have to wait til 2010, get it now!
I am loving it, just got it and having fun figuring it out, I keep checking all the sites for things I "need" to have on it lol
Most carriers let you upgrade phones after a year as long as you renew the contract for 2 years at that time and pay the 2 year contract price. If you wait 2 years and renew, you can get phones for steep discounts because they're desperate to keep you with them. I'd say wait until April, then sell your Curve and get the Bold for the 2-year contract price.
Point taken. However, I don't really do much browsing, per se. I'm more interested in being able to check a score or the weather quickly while on the phone, and even more importantly, to get my emails and mms's while on a call. WiFi and GPS together will be nice, too.
Aside from the browser issues, how's everything else?
Oh, I'm definitely waiting until April now. As for the "early" upgrade, I've been with Cingular/AT&T for over ten years now, and I've *never* been eligible for an upgrade in only twelve months. It's always been 21 months to my recollection.
I'm putting it on some sort of error. Unless there's an AT&T rep with better information or insight.
