I would be willing to pay for a Solar Powered BlackBerry. I'm tired of coming home from work, the battery is running down and I can't charge the phone because of a power outage. This happens often. Anyone else interested.

Where do you live that you have regular power outages?

You might want to invest in a power bank (or two), such as these:

Where are you from? There are many commercial solar phone chargers in the market which can do this much better by Bein able to charge an internal batter while not being connected and having a much larger surface area than you could place on any phone.

It seems like a great idea which is not feasible with todays technology, however

Not sure how much you know about solar power but with 2013 tech, this is nearly useless. Assuming the solar panel has to be contained within the phone's body without increasing it significantly, this is not possible and will be a fail.

We're not trying to power the calculator, this is a smartphone

I live in Cape Town. Sorry, should have said, had a bad year with the power company. They've been working on the sub station near us.
