Op your theory is why people calls Android a fragmented ecosystem. You got a whole bunch of hardware companies taking a piece of software from one company that is designed for general hardware. Google didn't write their software from the ground up just for Motorola hardware specification only.

I am not the smartest guy in the room so here goes. To the OP point optimized software can make older "inferior" hardware perform better than newer. Got it. No arguments here. Once the newer software rolls out to newer hardware then old hardware soon becomes obsolete. Technology one could argue is the best example of Darwinian rules. I guess we could go back in time and put all of our intelligence into a caveman but in the end he is a really smart silly looking caveman that will stick out in a bad way. However we are a very accepting society so he would find a place eventually. Evolution and pushing boundaries is exciting to watch as it keeps the bar moving even higher and we as consumers become the beneficiary. So at the end of the day I as the consumer want them both. Sure the latest and greatest let' me download something 2 seconds faster and some say so what. I say great and go back to the drawing board and make another one even better and come back and take some more of my money. One last thing BlackBerry is very close to being the Caveman I referred to earlier. 2015 will go along way towards them being a contender or an also ran on the hardware side of things. Alright, I am finished with my Mr. Obvious rant of the day.
