I've been experiencing laggy GPS while in a car. Compared to my old phone (Blackjack 2), the 9700 is much slower. The BJ2 was spot on and updated the location much quicker. The 9700 was lagging behind by at least 4 or 5 seconds compared to our actual location.

I THINK it's because of the higher resolution screen which is causing data to load much slower. Google Maps is faring better than Bing. Bing just doesn't seem to load for almost minutes at times. Blackberry maps is better than both as it's not as detailed, but doesn't have some of the features of Google Maps and Bing.

Is there a quick fix for this or are we just stuck with the lag for now?

Maybe check the options and turn on "Location aiding"? I believe that will use tower triangulation in addition to GPS. From a BB page...:

Depending on your wireless service provider and wireless network, this feature might not be supported. By default, location aiding is turned on to improve the performance of GPS technology. When location aiding is turned on, your BlackBerry device connects to a central server periodically, which can increase your data service charges. To avoid these charges, you can turn off location aiding, but it might take longer for your device to get your GPS location. For more information, contact your wireless service provider.

    1. On the Home screen, click the Options icon.
    2. Click Advanced Options.
    3. Click GPS.
    4. Perform one of the following actions:
    * To turn off location aiding, change the Location Aiding field to Disabled.
    * To turn off location aiding when roaming, change the Location Aiding field to Disabled While Roaming.
    5. Press the Menu key.
    6. Click Save.

I actually started using my GPS more on my 9700 as well, since my Magellan GPS is slowly dying.

I have yet to run into any issues. Look into the Location Aiding because there is a little difference. Are you running any other apps besides G-maps?
