    Hey guys,
I just got an email from SlingTV Customer Service. Since I'm a subscriber, I contacted them to troubleshoot the APP APK. The reason why I contacted them was that I was able to get the APP previously working on. 10.3.,1 and was wondering why it wasn't working anymore. I went and did some research before I contacted them and found out that Sling is apparently blocking unsupported devices off of their APK's.

Apparently, this was the issue the Fire stick and well it was fixed after it was officially released. So I confronted them about the issue and see if they could confirm that they were blocking the devices or not... This is what they sent me.

    Hello Jose,

Thank you for providing feedback about additional devices you would like Sling TV to be available on.
Our development team is actively working with BlackBerry, so Sling TV can be legally available on their devices.

We are always looking to add to Sling TVs supported devices.

Follow us on Twitter (@Sling) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/Sling) for future announcements regarding new devices that support Sling TV.

    Take Back TV,

After looking at the email, I'm guessing that there are licensing issues and that's why they cannot provide the service. But still.... Anyway what do you guys think? Giving theres nothing on here on Crackberry usually on Sunday's other than accessory posts... I figured I share this with you guys...

Skeptical... we've seen 'canned' emails like that before and nothing came from it.

That's why I'm skeptical, Making these devices legal? I mean is the Sling TV app limited on what android devices they are to work with? I mean the device doesn't use google play services, and they originally released the APK, without it being approved on the Google Play store, I mean it works. There has to be something going on with this "licensing issue"
Also I think I should put a ? on the end of that Title... Or a better title?

I'm currently using a paid version of SlingPlayer on my BlackBerry z30. I purchase the app thru Amazon App Store.

Yeah mine stopped working around the 10.3.1 update. Didn't realize it was because they were blocking it. Bought this app through Google Play store and it worked great for a while.

When you say that you bought this app from Google play store are you talking about slingbox or sling tv? Because sling tv app is free and the subscription starts at 20$ but sling box is different...

I've always wondered how the trademark attorneys for either Sling or Sling Box dropped the ball so badly.

This thread is a perfect example of why trade/servicemarks need to be enforced by the owners!

Both SlingTV and Slingbox are products of Sling Media, a subsidiary of EchoStar. EchoStar also owns Dish Network.

Ok, then one trademark attorney dropped the ball. Talk about brand confusion.

Not worried of who owns who but the services are separate, sling.com and the sling apk is what I'm talking about

Which end are they saying has the licensing issue? Are they saying that BlackBerry needs to pay them for the app or they need to pay BlackBerry?

This is why the runtime needs to have an advanced option to impersonate other Android devices.
