It's one of the most offensive battery hogs of the big-name apps. Android port.

Hope we get native at some stage. :-)

You don't have to delete it. You can still have it on your phone and use it when you need it; just don't leave it running all the time. When you run it, it will try to stay around in the Android Runtime. You can use a free app, called Taskmanager in BlackBerry World, to kill it after every time you use it.

Yeah, it'll do that. I think the fact that it is an Android port doesn't help but it seems to me like Skype is just an extremely battery hungry app, in general. It always wants to do things behind the scenes. I suspect even if we had a native app, it would be a very similar problem.

Here's a link of some iOS users having the same issue on what is most surely a very 'native' version for them: http://community.skype.com/t5/iOS-iP...8/td-p/3650267

Only 'solution' I've found so far is to delete Skype and hope that BlackBerry ups the ante and goes cross platform with BBM video chat.

Hate skype. Uses almost every resource your phone has and uses it HEAVILY. I'm sure running it through the android runtime doesn't help

You don't need to delete it. Just make sure to log off after use.
If you set it up right, you don't even need to log off. Mine runs in background all the time and only takes maybe 5% of battery overall.

It hits in times with unusual way! Didn't trust so deleted. If I use it and log off then skype is not designed for modern smartphones
