I am aware of the feature to enable security using a PIN and the blackberry websites states "You can protect your SIM card with a PIN code to add another level of security to your BlackBerry device. If you lock your SIM card with a PIN code, other people cannot use their SIM card in your device. Before you can use your SIM card in another device, you must type the PIN code."Obviosly this prevents a user from using the SIM to make calls but does this also prevent a user from taking contact information from the card using anouther phone or SIM reader ? Just curious as i dont have anouther handset to test this and i cant find any information regarding this.

A SIM PIN will prevent any access to data on your SIM card and prevent the ability to make or receive phone calls. Each time you switch your phone it will request the PIN number. Once switched on it will not request it again till you restart the phone.
