No. A simple backup is enough to save my contact list and the
SIM card could not hold it all.

Agreed. The SIM phone book is inefficiant since it only copies a name and 1 number.
That said, I do have my most important numbers backed up to the SIM, but it's <20 of my hundreds of contacts.

I think the backup feature on the sim card is great!
I have one contact on my phone, and i backed it up on my sim card too so i won't forget it.
