IF you don't like Research In Motion or Blackberry, then simply leave and don't return. Go to your iPhone or Android devices and leave us to enjoy the last remaining year or so till BBX. None of us is going to miss you but I am a devoted fan since switching from Android and I'll carry a Blackberry till Research In Motion stops producing them or I die - whichever comes first.

Be grateful of what you have already from RIM and it's not like someone is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to keep a berry. I'm completely satisfied with my Blackberry and while I am eagerly awaiting 7.1 for WiFi Hotspot as it's convenient, I don't desperately need it or any other changes.

Sure I'm not able to have a million applications but I don't need them. I have my BBM, I have my WLM, I have my Facebook & Facebook Messenger, instant push email, great battery life and SECURITY & RELIABILITY!

**** most of the applications I used on Android such as banking or public transport can just be used in the BB Browser and a link created in the App Drawer. Same thing. really

You only hear the negative about Blackberry & RIM as the positive users probably aren't on Crackberry or the internet as they are overseas in non-western countries where berries are the rage.
(I do hope RIM gives us a new better looking UI with better notifications though )

Its not all iPhone and Android users, to be fair. I saw a BlackBerry user in another thread who said if it wasn't for BBM, he would've ditched BlackBerry long ago. Another user said if it wasn't for the keyboard, he too also would have left. So it's not just Android or iPhone users being negative.

There is nothing wrong with a civilized debate, so please don't take that as spreading negativity. If you don't like the heat, stay out of the kitchen. I agree that many threads here have spiraled out of control, but it's a two way street. It's BlackBerry users and other device users spreading negativity and hate.

With that said, I still like BlackBerry. As I've said before, I've made friends here, I enjoy the community (most of the time), and I've owned 2 BBs, so I reserve the right to continue to visit CB.

Also, if you don't like what a particular user has to say, use the ignore feature. It works wonders.

Your last sentence just contradicts your entire message. Most of us are owners or prior owners of BlackBerry. Just because we don't have the most current one doesn't mean we have less say. In fact, we are the ones who are looking forward for reasons to get a BlackBerry. Like in any phone, there are just shortcomings that are in each. There will always be room for improvement.

On another note, it is getting excess I admit. But I will still keep an open mind and an open wallet if BlackBerry actually listens and gets with the game. They need to stay competitive.

Its just an internet forum, why get all upset over it? RIM is just a company, not a relative of anyone here. Why people take it personally when people say something negative in here is beyond me. Its an internet forum and that's what people do when they come to them. They are for people to come in and praise AND vent or complain about something.

If you don't like it simply don't read the threads and only read the positive ones.

People like to defend their choices. It helps them get through their days. If you disagree with THEM, then you must be wrong. Slamming RIM because they either have a different phone or they are unhappy with their current BlackBerry causes there trolls to post. Mostly they are Apple or Android zealots who gleefully re-post articles by no-nothing analysts and journalists.

The way to do most damage to these posters is to ignore them and hope that they will go away. Unfortunately many CrackBerry members rise to the bait and render these idiots just what they crave - attention.

My feeling is that once posting has started, one should just tell them to go away and to not give them material with which to start another argument.

It is tempting to fight back with facts that refute their argument but this seems to just attract other idiots who then join the thread.

Just keep telling them to go away and post elsewhere is, I now feel the only way to get rid of these pests.

We all know that RIM and BlackBerrys are not perfect. What company or product ever is? Other marques have their own set of product and corporate problems. I shall go no further down that path for fear of starting yet another argument.

CrackBerry is first and foremost a RIM/BlackBerry forum. It rightly has other sub-forums that keep us from living in a vacuum but we need to defend our bastion by rejecting the interlopers who are set on trouble making.

I agree the site has gotten very negative and seems to have a lot debates about platforms. I will say that it did not just start in the last 6 months. If you look back, it started in 2009 and before with people wanting a webkit browser, better apps, less battery pulls, and Storm users complaining about a low quality phone and experience in general. Back then most people did not value apps, browsing, larger screens, etc as much. Messaging still ruled, and despite the shortcomings or issues, RIM ruled messaging. Things changed for most users in that we wanted to browse, use apps, play media, etc on our phones. We wanted to see things more clearly, zoom on documents, have many app choices, and have fast phones that could do all this well.

Then came the decision to not upgrade several devices when they did make the leap to BB6 (which was OS 5.2). I thought BB6 was a good upgrade and was excited when I thought my fairly new Storm2 would get it. That is when I really saw a lot of people, including me, get upset. We bought devices 2 or 3 months before that were not going to have an upgrade path and we were stuck in 2006 in many ways but with a prettier interface. That is when a lot of people jumped ship and the site started to become much more mixed with a lot of BB fans using other platforms. Most of us wanted (still want) to see RIM come back, and we hang around hoping, debating, trying to help, and yes sometimes being not so nice or mature about the widening gap in many areas.

I won't excuse the attacks, immature comments, trolling, etc. I hung in there until mid-2011 waiting on something to compel me to stay through an upgrade. So I think a lot of the negativity is not just what RIM is doing today. It is also driven by RIM's failure to plot a path to get up with the market for years, RIM's missing of dates, and the belief that they might be able to innovate fast enough to be relevant in 1, 2 or 3 years. Setting the standard for messaging from 2000 to 2005 does not make you the leader in 2011. Others have or are catching up in the core area with lots of other features/areas way ahead.

I agree the negative attacks need to stop and the trolls need to calm down or go away. I will also state that putting forth an alternative point of view or correcting misinformation is not trolling if the conversation stays civil and on topic. Please don't attack those of us who hope RIM returns to the top and want to stay relevant and helpful, even if we use Android, iOS or others. Learning about the other platforms should be helpful to stay relevant. Hiding your head in the sand and believing misinformation is no way to sustain a platform. That being said, it has its place and its place is not in every single thread started.

Most of the complaints levelled at BlackBerry can be levelled at others in the same way, I was a member of the windows mobile forum as windows phone 7 was being developed at bit like our BBX situation, the critics both pro and anti made all the same sounding comments. and to be fair it does detract from the product and tends to make me lose interest in sharing my thoughts.

I am a new user but I know that my set up now suits me better than anything I've ever had before.
Yesterday my Son in law tried to tell me how excellent his new htc something or other is, I am genuinely happy for him, he went on to say how krap my phone is and how krap BB is, why? because of the outage, I tried to explain that many systems don't have the set up to have an outage with,

This is a person that believes that the moon landing was an elaborate plan to fool us all. As he continued his predictable rant I realised nothing would help him to see the truth. And I think that is true of those who attempt to sabotage this excellent forum nothing will help them to see it's ok to think differently. so

I co-own an IT business and we offer support for and consulting on smartphones and I am a BlackBerry developer. Apart from the successful apps I have already released... I have about half a dozen more apps in my pipeline that I have been given as requests from forum members here. Who would know what types of apps the BB and PB community needs more than the active platform users?

Why, do forums only go one way here? Why can't we list the pros with the cons? And as of late, there are far more cons with the new devices than pros. Take a look at the competition.

I've never understood why former RIM owners feel the need to come back to the BBerry forums and make comments. It's not that they should be banned or flamed, I just don't understand it.

Trying to rationalize their participation in forums that are intended for RIM enthusiasts, is totally beyond me. Extolling the virtues of their new devices only makes it worse. Bashing RIM or RIM's products is just not right.

Move to your own MN section and enjoy. Come back when you've purchased a new RIM product but, please understand as a "former RIM owner" actively participating in these forums is just plain lame.
