I was hoping that the upcoming phones would've look something like these. I guess no BB return for me this year.

If BlackBerry put out another slider phone, that would be the nail in the coffin.

A Lot of nails but no coffin to be found thus far. Lol whether devices succeed or fail it's not dead. That's extremely clear from what Chen has said.

I lovee the second concept from the top. Although the 3row keyboard was iffy for me at first, all the news about it being touch sensitive makes it very appealing. Especially because it allows the screen to be 4:3 or even longer. The 1:1 ratio has to GO.

Therein lies the problem since the iPhone first debuted... and why BB has 1% market share. let's think about that... 1%...

Basically if we took people seriously, BlackBerry would be dead, back to life and dead all over again already

My opinion is that : did the inventor of the rectangular shape put a voodoo on people? Why tf is it a crime to go outside of that shape for a phone? I love my z10 and I do prefer the long - skinny look but every damn ****** design these days always use the same crap.

Come up with something new for once. BlackBerry are being adventurous but somehow you think designing a phone that looks like a shank knife will suddenly buy them more customers.

I remember when those phones (keyboard) that could flip completely 180 first came out I was impressed. Poor but impressed and that's because it was different.

Btw Op you argue that you couldn't use a z10 because it doesn't have physical keyboard. You use a nexus 5... full touchscreen.

Also claim you liked the q10. Am I missing something? You'd be willing to give the q a try with the same OS as the z10 but couldn't stick with the zee? Of course this is off topic

1st one as the classic would've been amazing
2nd one whatever bro that long phablet is hideous.
3rd one slider fans are a minority of people stuck in 2007
4th one is basically a passport.
    5th see #3

We want blackberry to succeed. So as a realist let me tell it how it truly is. Most of these are shet and I'm glad blackberry didn't go for any if them.

I am more or less in the same boat.
I'd actually prefer a slider over a full touch and full Physical keyboard design.

So I'd be very pleased with a new iteration of an evolved slider.
    Gotta have dreams, ya know?

You might have a point if you'd talk about installed base vs marketshare.

The installed base could be higher than 1%.
In terms of marketshare of devices sold in 2013, the 1.5% number is totally correct though.

IIRC from various articles posted here and elsewhere, the BB installed base is around the same as WinPhone at 3%... which equates to around 50M handsets.

I'd post links, but frankly, I don't really care if anyone doesn't believe the 3% figure.

Back on-topic, a BB slider is probably the only handset that might tempt me back to BB. That last picture is very nice!

I really want a rectangular screen physical qwerty. Since BlackBerry don't have that I am settling with an all touchscreen phone. Nexus 5 for the price is the best phone on the market. I was so close to buying the Q10 from Groupon for $250 then I saw too many double typing issue.

I'm pretty sure BlackBerry has their own R&D department that goes through hundreds of concepts.
Really? I'm not so sure. What they're coming up with is not consistent with being in touch with the market.

One of BlackBerry's inherent faults of the past was that the engineers dictated what the customer got, not what they wanted. I see no signs of this having changed at all to date, enter the PassPort.

While I think some of those designs look good, I also think the ones that people like the most are unrealistic.

That one slider - how are you going to get a screen that thin that still has room for the hardware required for gestures ? Not to mention - how does the sliding mechanism fit?

As for the one with the edge to edge screen - yup - that would be gorgeous. So you'd give up gestures all together then? Because that's what the bezels are for and that's why they need to be as wide as they are.

As technology improves, and I would hope that this is something BlackBerry is constantly working on, they can reduce the bezel size. But it doesn't just happen because a bunch of people say it would look cooler without them.
