My carrier offers BIS plans. It has unlimited email, push, bbm, web browsing, social media mentioned which has lower price point than a normal data plan with unlimited (fair usage) plans. Are there any restrictions if I take a BIS plan? Can I tether my internet on a PC? Can tor traffic pass through BIS? Or should I go for data plan? I don't understand the real difference. I mailed my carrier but I have no replies from them
Also, how does push email really work with say gmail and BIS? Should I configure something in the BIS? How does BIS server know a new mail has arrived.

BIS is only usable with a BBOS 7 device or older. If you don't have one of those then you can't use BIS.
