You haven't seen the leaked images yet? It's geared towards the core fans who like physical buttons

I don't think there is much of a market for them. There are more important things for BlackBerry to be focusing on without looking into a "smart watch."

Apple and Samsung however have done well enough that they can afford to make stupid crap and not really matter. Just my 2 cents.

I don't think BB needs to make a watch. They need to make and sell phones. When/if they are in a better position, they can look at expanding the market they are in.

I agree, when they have a better position they should definitely look into it, it's a cool futuristic device. They patented glasses already as an accessory so this should be down the road.

I honestly don't think smart watches are going anywhere... yes they are convenient for viewing quick messages; however, they do not allow two handed interface. Therfore, I think until we can send texts bu thinking what we want to sent to they will be pointless.

They can't sell phones, let alone a smart watch. Focus on fixing the bombing sales first and get some actual market share back. So far BB10 has not gained more traction in the market.

I have very mixed feelings on this. I think they may have to do something dramatic, like a new product class that they really are successful, with to survive. On the other hand, they are probably way behind Apple and Samsung on the watch so it seems unlikely they can catch up.

Hell no complete waste of money for them to get into the smartwatch business. I honestly don't see a huge market for these things.

The last thing Blackberry need to do now is to waste ressources on another pet project. The PlayBook put blackberry back two years. They could have had a QNX smartphone in 2011.

Maybe not the best idea for them given the current situation. But overall, I'd say its not a bad idea if they can keep the R&D costs down, and get something on the market soon.

To all the people saying "that will never take off," Those are the same words Mike and Jim said about full touch devices.

There's a point where you have to get in the elevator to the future, even if you're unsure what floor you're headed to.

BlackBerry should not make one, but maybe in a partnership they can hash one out.

Contrary to most crackberrians belief. There is a big market for them. The galaxy gear watch will be pretttttty nice

At this point, a smart watch from BlackBerry would be a "me too" product. I honestly don't think that this would help revive BlackBerry's fortunes.

As to what the company should do: I have no idea, other than (perhaps) continue making excellent hardware but additionally demonstrate a commitment to create a secure, functional, integrated yet really cool suite of in-house apps. Even that may not be enough. :-(

Granted, it wasn't to be manufactured by BlackBerry directly, but this did come up four years ago: http://gearpatrol.com/2009/10/26/imp...for-blackberry. Made me think of **** Tracy!

Forget the watch... However, in general, wearable tech is going be a next big thing and BlackBerry should get in on that.

Yes... they could make a watch but that would be just a "me too". On the other, they could raise the bar with some other novel wearable devices and use them to show the world their (as of now vague) mobile computing strategy.

They need to jump in front and lead this trend, not wait and see what everyone else does and then play catchup like they usually do.

Which is why a smart watch/smart accessory would be a good place to start. Google's got Glass; Samsung, Sony and (probably) apple have watches... what does blackberry have?

Wow, no think bleutooth headset has more fuctionality because you always have your mobile phone with you so why bothering to buy a big expensive watch with a screen. O Yes it's has a apple logo on it so there is something to show off
