I posted a similar question in the BBM section but I feel like there isn't much visibility on that forum. Anyway, I like where BBM Channels is headed but I feel like one of the biggest issues to its growth is the lack of visibility. If you didn't know BBM Channels existed, you could easily open the BBM app and not even know channels are there. That being said, it might be worth considering making BBM channels a separate app, similar to how Facebook created a stand alone app just for messaging. What are other peoples thoughts on this?

I think it should be in the same app, but it should be one of the three icons in the bottom part. Instead of groups maybe? Having plenty of trouble getting people to download BBM as it is, let alone a separate app.

I agree, very difficult to find, let alone explain. If it was its own app, with automatic Blackberry channel Joined (It would get updates and people would open it up to see whats what) would give it great exposure. Use some of the iOS in your face no choice gimmick to get it off the ground running. JMOP

I agree it should stay part of bbm but needs more visibility - not sure about replacing the groups button though cause I use that.

The ability to chat with the channel owner is one of the distinguishing features between channels and other social media offerings so you don't want to downplay that by splitting it into a new app.

A separate home screen icon for it would be useful, so ...yes.

That would be a reasonable compromise

Definitely separate app icon on home screen. This will make it much quicker instead of having to open channels up in Bbm.

I guarantee that if channels was it's own app, you'd immediately see a drop in active users.
Isn't it hard enough to get ppl to move back to bbm? Then to convince them that a separate channels app is worth it???

Don't think the channel thing is very interesting to be honest, but that's just my opinion

Replace updates at the bottom. Least used and already present by swiping right if needed. Or have a few channels added by default. Maybe a blackberry news channel so people can see what's up when they open it instead of trying to find something with the awful sponsored channel list or searchjng .

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly, but if you are referring to hub notifications, then you can get them by marking a channel as a favorite.
