The Z30 packs in a whopping 9 additional pixels per inch than the Bold 9930's display. The 9930's display showed noticeably jagged edges, so it is to be expected that Z30's display would as well.

It really makes no sense why they refused to go with more competitive hardware for their "flagship" device, but it's too late to do anything about it now.

Funny, I was just reading your post when a buddy BBMed me. He got his Z30 today. Had a Z10 and loves his new device. Says the screen and colors are great. How do I know? I asked. That's why we need competition and choice. Different strokes for different folks.

LOL . Yup i noticed that browser icon has only 21 pixels on the Z30 . It is very noticeable.
It hurts my eyes. I am returning it for the Z10.

Lmao I'm not buying z30 even if it has amoled screen and that the browser icon is jaggy!
I will take the lcd z10 that don't have miracast and other few goodies bcuz the browser icon is jaggy!!

I personally like the device other than the dim, low res screen. If it wasn't for that I would get one for the right price.

I guess it comes to personal choices. I once played with Z30 and my impressions (compared to Z10) were - too heavy, too big. Wrt screen resolution - Z30 shows more icon rows on the home screen, so I would expect it to have smaller ones. Hell, I have so many apps installed on my device that I refer to the search button more often than swiping the pages to find the one. I compared Z10 to S4 to see the resolution difference. Yes, I've been able to notice details difference on photos but it was so subtle that I would not bother. What impressed me more on Z30 and S4 is the oled screen.

That's interesting. BlackBerry happened to have a marketing display in the Toronto Financial district today and it was my first time with a Z30. I absolutely loved it compared to my Z10 for the sound, screen real estate and the fact that a 5" screen still didn't seem like a huge phone (I was totally convinced it was too big for me but was proven quite wrong!). I didn't find it particularly heavy either. Speed seemed good - at the very least not slower that the Z10 I carry now. The look without the top and bottom bezel like the Z10 is also sweet. As someone said before - different strokes for different folks!

I'm hoping Verizon will carry them in store. Really want to check one out and swap between it and my Q10 if I end up liking the Z30

The OP must have 60/20 vision. I moved from a Z10 to a Z30 and am more than satisfied. I have not noticed significant visual issues that would bother my experience.

I also use a HTC One as my work phone, which is 1080p and honestly isn't any better at all.

The first thing I noticed about the Z30 was it's display quality and how it was poorer than the Z10. You dont need crazy vision for that

Nope....sorry to say you are wrong...I played with one in a Bell store last week, and put up my z10 against it...the Z30 rocks...I'm trying to find a way to upgrade soon.

Assuming you are in India, I sold my Z10 for Rs.14,000. Got the Z30 for Rs.39,000.

Agreed the Z30 could have a better display. But honestly, its quite good as it is.

A high res 1080p display would be sure to eat battery life which is more important to me. You'll notice in all the new Nexus 5 reviews, they all complain about the short battery life which is surely due to the high res 1080p display.

I went from Z10 to Z30, and there is no hope in hell I would ever go back. Z30 is light years better. Faster, Bigger screen, longer life battery, better speakers.


FWIW, I sold my Z10 for $300cdn. You can buy a brand new one from Telus for $450

I had both the 10 and the 30. I don't see any disadvantages of the Z30 screen at all. In particular not when not having both devices sit next each other. But even then there is no extremely obvious difference. Well maybe my eyes are not good enough.
I don't know what you guys think, but I prefer an outstanding battery life, (partly) due to the not extremely high resolving screen, over a high end thing that has an advantage on paper but forces me to recharge my battery twice a day.
Has anyone read the reviews of the new nexus 5? Great phone, but very weak battery life. Well, quad-core, 1080 screen etc. but all of that draining the battery very fast?
Not my cup of tea. Happy with the Z30.
