BlackBerry Ltd May Turn Into Classic Turnaround Story
The article cites a source from Seeking Alpha, which is pretty much a glorified message board, meaning this report has no credibility whatsoever.
If by some coincidence it turns out to be true, though,
No way, unless they delayed it to somehow squeeze better internals into it. Even then,.. gonna be a tough sell.

Hot bakes?
10.3.1.1016
Nah, it'll probably be 399.
It might be 499$ with a 100$ rebate.
So carriers will probably sell it at 499$ unlocked (everyone is gonna scream that it's overpriced)
And Shop BlackBerry will sell it at 399$
At least let's hope so. If they sell it at 499$ it wouldn't make sense (passport pricing)

$499.00 is too much, IMHO. Glad I just picked up a Z30 for $299.00.

I would say 299 promotional pricing and 399 base for unlocked units. It would help them if the price point was around this figure.
Q10 was on sale for $199. Is this phone with a bigger screen, bigger battery, trackpad and toolbelt worth $300 more?
Assume the article is true. Lumia 830 gonna cost $50 less. That seems hard to justify.

How many times do we have to say that anything posted on SA (Seeking Alpha) is junk?
Seeking Alpha, a site where everyone can write an article, is mentioned as a source..who they will cite next Santa Claus? LOL
I don't think it will be but it wouldn't surprise me. If they price it that high then its a death wish for that phone. People aren't going to pay for a phone with its specs in this day and age simply because it has a keyboard and trackpad. It should be priced at $199 on contract or $299 outright if they really expect it to sell.
It should only be $399.

$299. There is no way a classic is worth more than a z30 to a large slice of the population.
Posted via CB10
Even $399 is too much. $299 sounds good-ish
Posted via CB10
Oh, man, that would go out of stock within hours!
OMG, $299? That's like suicide. You won't have room to go lower later!
It's pretty simple to figure out the pricing:
It's not gonna be $499. They just can't price the same as the passport
The bare minimal price would be $199 (like the Q10) but that is way too low. Probably zero profit at that price.
$299 could be the price a few months after the launch. My bet is that it would be at $399. That would be perfectly priced vs their product line.

They can go $298 after !
399 is feasible off contract, but no doubt Bell will be 499 lol
Blackberry Passport running 10.3.1.1016
400$ is still overpriced.
The Classic is a 300$ device, and I am generous there, when you look at the competition in the 300$ segment.
In the 400$ bracket, the device is just totally uncompetitive.
And if BlackBerry actually wants to sell it for 500$, I'd say that the are on crack.
Anyhow, I personally think that even a price of 400$ would DOA the device.
Maybe against their own product line but BlackBerry doesn't exist in a vaccuum.
400$ is too much compared with the competition.
400$ nearly buys you last year's Android flagship.
Does the same apply when it's a pro BlackBerry "article" on SA?
If yes, you finally impressed me in a positive way.
I think we are talking "real" dollars here, and not the Canadian or Australian "Dollar" :D

You don't know the price of the BlackBerry Classic it's not 499$/399$ or again 299$, wait and see for get a real price from Chen

I think someone has a little inside infos here :D

400 - 450 is plenty fair.
People comparing to the z30 promo price aren't thinking straight.
These phones don't target the same consumer; they are not substitutes.
If you want to compare MAYBE try q10 and even then they are different in their respects.
There is also value here that you can't just compare from a spec sheet. The phone is brand new in time for the Christmas holiday season. Of course they are going to price it high...

It comes out in the X-Mas season, that is mostly a consumer's buyers fest, and those won't even want to come near to the Classic.
Spec wise, the Classic is a phone out of 2011, so yes, even 400$ is too much.
If you compare the Classic to any other phone of the market, 400$ is a terrible amount, when it comes down to the Value for $ ratio.
