So as most people know RIM was originally going to call BB10 BBX. However they got sued & were forced to change the name. The problem is that BB10 is kinda lame. What happens next year? BB11? Followed by BB12, & BB13? Every year the name will get lamer & lamer. Apple knows this...thats why they have started naming their 10.x OS's.
What if BB did something slightly different?
What if they named their next OS BB X1? That could be followed by X2, X3, ect. I don't know about you, but BB OS X2 sounds a lot more exiting then BB OS 12.

    What do you guys think?

What makes you think Rim will change their os name every year? Pretty sure that's not the case. Atleast its not the impression i've gotten in any of the events/interviews thus far.

OS name doesn't change how I feel about an OS. iOS3, iOS4, iOS5, iOS6, Jelly Bean, ICS, Gingerbread....all these are silly in my books and don't change anything

Yea but it's all about Marketing isn't it.
People get exited about new Operating systems because of the thought that newer is better (not always the case...look at Vista)

If they bought QNX, why not just use that name?

    I like BBQ.
    BlackBerry QNX.
For OS releases they could have something like BBQ 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc...

I'm kinda leaning towards using the QNX name. What will the later releases be called? That's what I've been wondering too. If the NAME of the OS is BB10, then what will happen a year or however later? Is it now BB10 ver 2.0? Kind of silly.

I understand why they choose to go with the 10 thing for various reasons X being roman numeral for 10, it's a 10 out of 10 and so forth. But how will they choose to name and signify incremental OS updates as of now baffles me.

If BlackBerry 10 is the name of the OS, and they plan to use numbers to signify future releases, then including a number in the OS name is confusing and in my opinion a mistake.

A name is a name if it is BBQ, BBX, OSX, QNX, BBDD, (BlackBerry Dan Dodge), RIM-X, (kinda like that one, sounds like "remix") it should sound cool and new. Time for a little "Research In Motion "

Because the QNX kernal is still being used & developed for many embedded systems. I belive the current QNX is 6.5 & that's the kernal that BB10 is being based on....though I have heard reports that it will be on QNX Kernal 8...though not sure how true those reports are, seeing as it would seem to be skipping QNX 7.x (which I understand is currently under development)

Vista, eww. I'm still running XP when I have to and Ubuntu when at all possible. Everything after XP has been garbage in my opinion. For the last year having a PlayBook, I barely use the PC anymore at all.
