- amazinglygracelessRetired ModExcellent results. Thanks for posting this and especially for the batch file.
That boot up time is just plain sick. Good job05-18-10 10:12 AMLike 0 -
- I was curious about a few things with the 5 large "medialoader" cod's mentioned:
net_rim_bb_medialoader_100_five_icon_library.cod
net_rim_bb_medialoader_480x360_03_b.cod
net_rim_bb_medialoader_backgrounds_480x360_03_b.co d
net_rim_bb_medialoader_ringtones_480x360_03_b.cod
net_rim_bb_medialoader_video_480x360_03_b.cod
I know the last is the large sample video that probably nobody needs. I took that out pre-install.
With the backgrounds, I made screenshots of the 4 wallpapers I like, then removed this with BBSAK post-install. Now I'll remove from future OS's.
I didn't remove ringtones. Since I only use a customized all-vibe profile, I tried to delete this cod with BBSAK. It wouldn't delete! I've never DL'ed any ringtones. I guess, do I need to have at least 1 ringtone on device?
And does anyone know what exactly the first 2 are?
net_rim_bb_medialoader_100_five_icon_library.cod
net_rim_bb_medialoader_480x360_03_b.cod
I was leary to delete them without knowing.
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com05-18-10 11:31 AMLike 0 - I always get rid of these:
If you don't need the supplemental dictionaries for Medical, Legal, etc, you can remove these:
net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_financial_english_10 k_2.cod
net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_legal_english_10k_2. cod
net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_medical_english_35k_ 2.cod
These are supplemental word lists for SureType. (SureType is Pearl-style predictive text with drop-downs as you type.)
If you don't use SureType, which most of us don't, then you can definitely delete these cod's.
And PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong, anyone.
I would hate to be giving blatant misinformation.05-18-10 01:28 PMLike 0 - In addition to emarsha's list (which will recover a ton), of what is in your list
I always get rid of these:
net_rim_bb_memo_app.cod (Download and install BBNotepad. Stores memos to
memory card instead of device memory)
Any file ending with ko.cod,ro.cod, he_IL.cod, he_US.cod

net_rim_DoDRootCerts.cod - unless you visit Dept of Defense sites often

- Sorry, I was in a hurry before. Here's the full path for most PCs:
C/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Research In Motion/Shared/<OS ver&/platform # here>/Java

The .bat file needs to be placed in
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\YOUR OS HERE\Java
It will work now.
When you do this, it will still flash open. It doesn't take long to move the files. You can verify with you c:\removed folder that the files have been moved.05-20-10 07:56 AMLike 0 - amazinglygracelessRetired Mod@ttsoldier: I have a new unit coming today so in addition to Shrink A OS I will be
using your batch file for the first time. Looking forward to it.05-20-10 09:16 AMLike 0 -
- What you need to do is make a folder on your C drive called Removed [ C:\Removed]
The .bat file needs to be placed in
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\YOUR OS HERE\Java
It will work now.
When you do this, it will still flash open. It doesn't take long to move the files. You can verify with you c:\removed folder that the files have been moved.
How do i place the .bat file into that folder what u have mentioned? Do i have to connect my berry?05-20-10 09:05 PMLike 0 - I would keep the Removed folder until the next OS you download. Delete its contents at the same time that you delete the previous OS before installing the next one.
For the bat file, you can drag it there, copy&paste, etc.
Your BB does not need to be plugged in. You're preparing the OS to install on your BB. When you're done removing cods and deleting Vendor, then you plug in your BB as per usual.

File free - 154,261,385
After reinstalling my 50 apps and restoring the device, File free - 109,432,703
Quite impressive if you ask me05-22-10 10:10 PMLike 0 - Wow, I've got to try that AG.
I have tons of apps like you. After doing some self-shrinking with cod removal, I'm at 80-something with all my apps loaded.
Still blazing fast, but the reboot time has suffered since new.
