- Hi CrackBerry.
I strive on performance and would no anything to get my Berry running at optimal performance. I have used Shrink-My-Os and pretty much ticked off everything there besides BBM,DocsToGo, and SIM Card Capabilities.
I've remained with the following files, and was wondering, with your expertise if you can take a look and recommend what files I can safely remove again.
I don't use any default themes or ringtones.
The list of files are to long to I've uploaded the file. If you can download it and take a look at it, I would appreciate it alot. The last time I tried this on my own, I ended up with just a white back ground with black writing. Could have barely seen anything :|
Below is the link for the txt file. Thank you again!

I always get rid of these:
net_rim_bb_memo_app.cod (Download and install BBNotepad. Stores memos to
memory card instead of device memory)
Any file ending with ko.cod,ro.cod, he_IL.cod, he_US.cod
(These are non English languages)
net_rim_DoDRootCerts.cod - unless you visit Dept of Defense sites often
net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_HK_Jyutping_shortcut s.cod
net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_norwegian_45k_2.cod
net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_norwegian_ltr.cod
net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_romanian_45k_2.cod
net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_romanian_ltr.cod
net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_swedish_45k_2.cod
net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_swedish_ltr.cod
If you don't need the supplemental dictionaries for Medical, Legal, etc, you can remove these:
net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_financial_english_10 k_2.cod
net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_legal_english_10k_2. cod
net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_medical_english_35k_ 2.cod
Telenav_v50_480x360.cod, Telenav_v50_480x360Lib.cod (If you use another
GPS navigation app)
If you don't use Documents To Go you can delete all the files for Docs2Go,
Sheet2Go, Slideshow2Go and Word2Go.05-12-10 08:25 AMLike 0 - I don't know what country you are in or what your first language is, but there a lot of extra language files in your list. It looks like all of your native BB files, and your Docs to Go files, are in three languages: _en (English), and _ko (Korean?), and _ro (Romanian?). I don't think you can delete _en, however, even if English is not your primary language.
Of course you will make a backup with Desktop Manager before you start deleting.05-12-10 08:27 AMLike 0 - Taking notes of all this. Will probably just make a script to remove all the files mentioned above.
I will also check out bbnotepad. I tried out Lister but it did not have a backup option which sucked :s
I will also make a script to remove all files ending in "ko.cod,ro.cod, he_IL.cod, he_US.cod" etc.
I also use Docs2GoLast edited by ttsoldier; 05-12-10 at 08:59 AM.

folder, that way if something goes off the rails he can just put them back and
Application Loader in DM will restore them. Backup does not do that.05-12-10 09:00 AMLike 0 -

Anymore files that can be safely removed? I see you mentioned supplemental dictionaries for Medical, Legal,. I don't use any kind of dictionary.
I'm really trying to stream this down as much as possible. I don't use any sort of GPS but I'm guessing the Telenav_v50_480x360.cod,Telenav_v50_480x360Lib.cod will take care of that05-12-10 09:55 AMLike 0 - amazinglygracelessRetired ModBased on the list you provided, I'd say what emarsha and I listed is about as much
as I would be comfortable removing.
The are a couple of files that are not in my OS so I can't advise whether to
remove them or not.05-12-10 10:02 AMLike 0 - Uploaded the batch file.

Telenav_v50_480x360Lib.cod
It will also remove all files with__ko,__ro, __he,__en ,_en and _ko,_ro
What will happen removing the en cod files? I have not tested it yet.
The script is set to move the files to "C:\Removed" . So you can just make a folder named "Removed" on your C: drive, or you can edit it as you choose. The batch file also needs to be in the folder where the .cod files reside.Last edited by ttsoldier; 05-12-10 at 03:19 PM.
05-12-10 02:05 PMLike 0 - amazinglygracelessRetired ModGood work on the batch file soldier
I have no idea about the _en.cod files. That is my primary so I have never considered
removing it. God, it's times like this I wish I had a spare.05-12-10 03:01 PMLike 0 - amazinglygracelessRetired ModI think, and don't quote me, you need English regardless of what your primary
language is. Not sure why.05-12-10 04:58 PMLike 0 - I agree with amazinglygraceless, I'm not comfortable removing anymore than what I've done. I've removed the BBM5 files after fully knowing from loader which files to delete. You can try a "mock" load and when the list pulls up, you can further look at what cod files make up what apps. This is how I removed BBM5 from the .656 leak.
If you download the current BBM from www.blackberry.com/messenger it will overwrite the OS's "Core version" and become an Add-On app, and therefore become deletable.
Just a little FYI. Not everyone (or barely anyone) has the proficiency for safely editing the cod list, so this is a workaround if you don't want BBM.
But seriously, why don't you want BBM?!?!?
That's kah-wazy!05-13-10 11:52 PMLike 0 - I myself am not a fan of BBM5 and the newer OS force the BBM5 download. To get rid of these files after shrinking, I go into the java/loader files and remove those cod files as well. I launch loader and it's not part of the download list. Hope this helps a little. Im sure there are more you could delete, these are the ones I do myself.

It outlines how to change an app from being required to an app that you can un-check during the OS install.gemmy likes this.05-14-10 12:08 AMLike 1 -
- Here's the good part. Results
After a wipe and install I had 150.4 MB of free application memory. That was partnered by a 56 second boot time.. ( I battery pulled about 3 times to make sure I was not dreaming.... I was not. )
The following apps and my most recent backup were loaded onto my phone
BBM
FB
MSN
Berrybuzz
Mobile Checkbook
Capture it
Shazam
After a battery pull, I'm sitting comfortable on 140MB of memory. Reboot time went up to 83 seconds ( ) , but that's still better than the 2mXXsecond boot up from before.
I'm a happy 9700 user05-17-10 03:07 PMLike 0 -
I do have LOTS of apps, and do view attachments with Docs To Go, so I never have the amazing memory remainder that many post about.
You must have really picked it clean w S-a-OS!
What are you referring to by "Batch File"?
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com05-17-10 04:39 PMLike 0 - If you see post 12 (http://forums.crackberry.com/f2/remo...0/#post5108740), I uploaded a batch file I made which removes about another 20mbs ( well it did for me )05-17-10 04:42 PMLike 0
