Not sure where to ask this, but my wife and I both have BB 8830 WorldEdition from Sprint. I've had my number for about 4 years and she got a company issued one.

We both recently got random text messages from an unknown number. The messages are very short "Can't talk, can txt."

My wife called the number back and it turned out that her number was the one texting and the person was responding to her.

Is there some sort of spam/virus on the BB? Again, I'm a newbie to the BB and it's never happen to me before when I had the BB. I've used Treo and WinMobile devices (and am sure glad I'm back to BB). Never experienced it on those platforms either.

Also, I'm in Dallas and the numbers are local. Happened 3 times already in a span of 2 weeks. Anyone else have this issue?

First, there is no virus on the BB... hasn't happened yet, ever.

How did your wife call back to the "unknown" number?

It very well could have been someone mistakenly texting you/your wife. Like a wrong number. It happens.
