I am about to buy a Curve 3G as my first Blackberry phone. I am confused about 2 things:
1. I have read that you get the Send to Facebook/Twitter option only if you have BIS. Does that mean I won't get those options for photos if I use just get non-BIS EDGE?
2. Will Facebook and Twitter notifications still show up if I were to run on only Wifi and have no Cellphone network signal at home?

Without BIS, the Facebook app will not work. The mobile site will, but the app will not work.
Yes, you will get notifications over wifi.
Without BIS only with edge you won't get much internet services working.. even WIFI on Blackberry devices is making problem when there is no active BIS.
But if you use EDGE 2G with BIS on unlocked device.. well it's not fast as 3G/H+ but still works just fine.. used it for a long time and it was ok...
