Security wipe removes all the personal data. You don't have to security wipe prior to wiping and reloading.
But do i need to do any type of wipe before i reload the OS? and if so, how do i do that?
When you load the OS, it will automatically wipe the phone. You will not need to do that.
Install BlackBerry Swiss Army Knife (BBSAK) onto your PC
Download and install the device software for your Torch to your PC
Connect your Torch to your PC with the USB cable
Run BBSAK and click Wipe Device
When your Torch shows a white screen with "507 Error" go back to BBSAK and click Load OS
Let it do it's thing, may take anywhere from 30 - 60 minutes
Make sure you backup the device before upgrading/wiping the device..just to be on the safe side, in case anything goes wrong during the process. If you plan to wipe the device, prior to reloading the OS, then you may want to backup the 3rd party apps as well...

Try a battery pull first.

... Battery pulls don't wipe the data or the OS.
