Problems with 8300
I considered posting this in the 83xx forum but realized that this may have been a problem for other BBs as well. Anyways, I have an 8820 but got a hold of my brother's old 8300 which is unlocked. He stopped using it because he claimed it would frequently freeze on him and power down. I used it for about a week with no problems and then suddenly, things began to go wrong. The phone began to power down often and for me to power it on, I had to remove the battery for a few minutes. It happened once while I was driving; I attempted to connect it to the car charger but the screen was off so I noticed that it was off and realized that something was wrong with it. It happened again a few days later when I received a phone call, which was very staticky, and when I hung up, the phone powered off. This happened about 3 times that whole day. After the phone call powering off, I let the phone sit for a couple of hours and then used it for some texting and powered off soon after.
I have done multiple backup and restores but this does not seem to work. Could it be a problem with OS?
Any suggestions and how-to's would be greatly appreciated.
I apologize if my story is a bit confusing. I just really want to fix this phone because I have grown to love the Curve.
Thanks in advance.

I dont think it could be an OS problem because I have the same phone and have never had any of that happen. I did just upgrade to the OS 4.5 a few hours ago and am now playing with what feels like a new phone. You might try it and see if it helps!

Did your brother drop it a lot or what? Was it always a bunk device? Maybe you just need a new battery? I've had 2 curves and never had either freeze or power down. My pearl never froze either.

if you did drop it, that could cause the problem. i remember when i had the 8300. i bought it the day it came out for at&t. a week lata, i dropped and that started to happen. it started to freeze, and power down. it happened to me at least once a day. and it because i dropped it. do you have insurance?

I am not sure if he ever dropped it; however, I think it belonged to someone else before he got it so maybe another person dropped it. I suppose it could be a battery problem because the battery on that phone dies after maybe 3-4 hours of texting and phone use; unlike my brother's and sister's new 8310s which can last upto 2 full days with use, I believe. Maybe a bit of an exaggeration but 3-4 hours is quite ridiculous. I will purchase a new battery and see how the phone operates though.
Jtriplett1080, how can I upgrade to the new OS?
Thanks for the responses.
