I'm updating my CDMA Alltel 8130 from 4.3.0.81 to Sprint's 4.3.0.127 OS. I followed the instructions in the CrackBerry 101 page, but it has frozen on one thing for over 12 hours. Here's a screenshot of what it's frozen on. http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/n...gerproblem.jpg I'm running Windows XP Home with DM 4.5. Can someone help? Also, if I abort the upgrade will it hurt my device?
Ok, press the trackball or a button and see what the screen looks like on the device. Is there an error? Is the LED flashing? Look at your modem, is the activity light flashing? Give me some more info, and we'll go from there.

Not all white, but white background with a calculator-esque image on the left and a computer on the right with little arrows in-between them. And yes, it's been 12 hours. I started updating saw that it wasn't moving on the process in my screen shot, but figured that was just it being slow. I went to bed, woke up, and found it was at the same place. And then I came and posted here.
I apologize that I can't post the links you need. I can't use a comp right now. Now this is totally up to you. But I would disconnect the device. It is not going to work this time. But you do NOT have to follow my advice. I am not going to take responsibility for your device. But I WILL help you fix it no matter what. So if you want to continue, press the cancel button, and try to run the apploader again. If that doesn't work post back and I will walk you thru what needs to be done. You can view all my posts and you will see I am a helpful member and do this regularly. The choice is yours.

Ok, I totally trust you. I'm assuming if rerunning the install doesn't work we'll wipe with jl_cmder (or whatever it's called)? 200th post also. Hmmm....the cancel button won't work. I clicked it, it pushed in, but nothing happens.

Congrats on the 200th. But yes, thats what we'll do. Some times when the DM is loading the modules, it gets locked up. Also, I'm at my comp now, so...
Yup, it wouldn't find the OS to update before I did that.
EDIT: Should I just unplug the BB and follow the directions in your sig for wiping with JL_CMDer?
I believe the screen shot you posted indicates a read failure with a third party application. If it can not finish reading the list, your device should be unchanged.
12 hours is more then enough.
With a bit of luck, unplugging the device and doing a battery pull will get you back to where you started.
If that does not work, something serious has gone wrong.
Wiping the device is a last resort techinique, it will loose all of the device data.
These are the DTM options. If you select Erase all current installed applications, odds are good the update will proceed.
You will have to reinstall the applications that you want to keep.
Ok, you can follow my tutorial on backing up 3rd party apps, then go to the DM and uncheck them and run the apploader. Then load the OS. After you do that, then you can restore the 3rd party apps. OR, you can just simply try again, and see if they load this tme. Your choice.
the link to the backing up 3rd party apps is in my sig.
NP, I'm sure I can speak for Stoner on this, we are glad to.
