    Does the blackberry device on the ATT network require a data plan? I'm asking on behalf of my roommate (I got big red). Sorry about the post I had some trouble finding another thread about this.

    Not true. If you buy the phone say at a pawn shop, you can put it on a regular plan. I don't have data.

    Yes. If bought at the carrier they require a data plan. Just saying, but a blackberry without data is a waste of time.. It rapes the device of its purpose.
