privacy concern

If my personal BB is connected to my employer's BES can he read my personal emails from GMail & Hotmail or my SMS messages?

If there is justification, the information that goes through your device can be retrieved.
Always assume there are three people reading the emails and messages you send through your work berry. That is the reason I have my personal berry. Work and personal are separate.
Hate to say this, but privacy is a fallacy.

Privacy is only a fallacy if you don't know how to use encryption and get the people you communicate with to use it.

With due cause, regardless of encryption, BES/BIS, any communication that goes through a server or data through a phone line such as SMS can be retrieved.
Absolute privacy is lips to ear.
Sorry - don't want to argue, but.....

There is a case before the Supreme Court dealing with this issue. Stay tuned.

Sorry - don't want to argue, but.....

You can retrieve all the data you want, if it's properly encrypted the only way to recover the message is to torture people who anyway may have forgotten their keys or what they wrote. That is as private as it gets, and it's good enough for the most critical secrets in the world, so I have no idea what you are saying, or why.

And I dispute whether "due cause" even applies. You should always operate under the presumption that the law means nothing, which is the reason people need to protect their privacy in the first place, since there's no expectation that your right to privacy will be honored by anyone, least of all the authorities.

Fine. The point is there is no way to recover properly encrypted text by technological means.
