Does anyone know the breakdown of the pricing/cost of making the Priv? I've heard around $700 US. That seems very high. Wouldn't you think they would want to come in a little less when you can get top of the line android phones for less. It is an android phone now, unless I'm missing something.

It depends what you compare it to. At TMO, the S6 Edge+ is still $780 after being out a while. The iPhone 6s Plus (64) is $850.

The LG G4 (with no keyboard and slider mechanism) is cheaper. LG is heavily discounting their phones - something BlackBerry could not afford.

There are a lot of Chinese-built phones out there that will always be cheaper, including the Huawei-built Nexus 6p.

What can one do? BlackBerry will never win a price war. Pick your market and hope for the best. The Priv is a well-built device with unique (and expensive) added hardware features. You have to decide if it's worth it.
