According to several websites and US Weekly magazine Obama is no longer using his blackberry and instead is using a $3,500 device called the "Sectera Edge" that runs on Windows CE.. So i guess he had to let go of his blackberry afterall...

We have been following this story pretty closely, President Obama has indeed surrendered his 8700 BlackBerry, but he is now carrying the 8830 World Edition.

This is the one that "does everything including turning into an escape car...".

Why $3200? It is ruggedized for Special Forces use. Totally water proof and nearly bullet proof.

Secret Service will make sure there one around for photo ops, but we continue to see the trustworthy BlackBerry in candid shots.

Unless its brand new news i thought he was told he was able to keep it but would be set to a private server and would have more security measures initiated. I wouldnt be able to deal with that sectera, its way too big and clunky. Plus i personally dont like any WinMo device, glad to see hes using the 8830. IMO one of the best phones ever to be released, id never give mine up....

And He said He still had it on the NBC interview before the superbowl last Sunday..

The USG has been using Bberrys with TS code word voice data for several years. Giving POTUS a secure device is not the issue. The issue is, once it is known that he is using a specific device, how soon will it get ID'd and, quickly, hacked ? Eveyone went CYA.

Will be interesting to see how they secure his comms when away from the WH local, secure net.
