Is it possible to get a prepaid blackberry bold by buying an unlocked one and using a sim card from a prepaid phone? Is this possible with 3g connection?

It's possible but your Internet won't work. It also depends on if the carriers try and catch this or not. My suggestion (if you live in the US) is to get either a 9650 from Sprint or a T-Mobile Bold and get their prepaid (Boost/T-Mobile) as they have BIS.

Any world phone can be unlocked and make phone calls, but if you need data then you will need to use it on a carrier that can offer BIS/WAP functionality (I'm not sure if prepaid even offers that).

Yes, pre-paid carriers DO offer data services,(depends on carrier) but of course those are extras. If you want data services, go to the carrier's website or call up the toll free and talk to a CSR.
