Have Justin Beiber pimp BlackBerries for a while and RIM would sell millions! It's a great market as well, hook them while they're young.

He's also a well known BlackBerry user as well. Here's a picture of him with a Style, but he's been seen rocking a Bold also...

I like the Betty White idea, let Betty and 50 cent pump features like "using half the data" and "pushed messaging" and finish off with Betty slapping 50 cent on the A$$.

I don't know that they need a celebrity endorser. I like the idea of the normal family. It seems more accessible to the average person. I also think a straight forward commercial of what the BB has to offer as a phone would be great. Apple does a great job with their minimalist commercials for the iphone/ipad. I would like to see RIM try something similar for their BBs and PB.
Apple and RIM could not be more different at the moment when it comes to marketing and advertising. SJ is a pagan god to the apple crowd and for much of the world he is a HUGE celebrity, no, a legend. They don't need actors as celebs because they have STEVE. A huge percent of ipuke owners say they will buy ipuke5 sight unseen. RIM lovers act with so.e passion, but more stubborn loyalty for an underdog. The rest of the world sees RIM like that dinosaur like the cartoon. Most have no idea that celebs use the BB.
People want to fit in and be like their idols. Look at the decidedly scary women wearing "Pink" shorts and sweats. Guys do the same kind of thing.

We need to them the PERMISSION to love the BB and PB based on the features that are beloved by the celebs. Shallow? Maybe, but also extremely effective and since we have Jim and Mike, not STEVE, we need all the dogs we can bring to this fight. C'mon, RIM. Bring out the big guns!!!

How 'bout Mark Zuckerberg? Everyone would "like" BB then!
Now that would cause a global 'firesale' (sorry I just had to use the term of the moment too )
But firstly the fees would bankrupt RIM secondly he's definitely not available.

This makes sense and he is part of the reason my iPod loving 12 year old daughter wanted a BB instead of an iPhone.
This doesn't matter but he also grew up just 40 minutes from RIM.

You're right, that doesn't matter. If he was born and raised in Waterloo then you'd have a point.

Did you know the locals in Stratford to go the place where he was discovered at night and ******* on it? True story.

I hate to say it but Matlock might be an appropriate celebrity at this point because the brand seems to be "old and tired" but it still does work for some.

I have always thought that RIM needs to get celebrities from all parts of the industry to do commercials. Like athletes, singers, reality stars, etc. And they would show how BlackBerry helps them Do What They Love. Maybe it's Donald Trump's people sending him pictures of a new potential property location. Or the all the Kardashians in a BBM chat room, plotting their next reality show. Or Solange and Beyonce sharing songs via BBM Music or something. Celebrities love BlackBerry, RIM needs to wake up and realize.

Why not combine the family and celebrities? Maybe Brad and Angie and the kids... Just a typical family...

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com
That a typical family. If so we are in trouble.

I prefer product placement but with a little extra push. Like a character not just using the phone to make a call but to actually USE the phone to do other stuff. I always see "Danny" talking on his phone on Blue Bloods but non of the other stuff that the "look at me crowd" uses their phones for.

Like Howard Stern because the new iphone5 is 4G and the drop down screen idea that they got from Android. lol But then again Howard thinks Steve invented touching a screen.

Why don't I know who any of these people are!?

Ok, how about no celebs but go with a theme and run with it. RIM was doing this with their super apps commercial but it wasn't accurate or exciting or familiar enough.
Because you probably have a life that revolves around you and your family and not a family that is famous for being famous.

The best celebrities that did endorsements for bb were those on "Entourage". I don't think there was an episode during the series entire run where there wasn't a bb shown. Jeremy Piven aka Ari Gold literally was glued to his for the entire series.
That was going to be my suggestion. RIM can put artsy types in its commercials all it wants, but the BB is first and foremost a business device and many people (even those who have never seen Entourage) would relate to Jeremy/Ari using the BB to make deals, check in with his family, etc.

Perfect! An advertising campaign with enough range where you feel connected with at least ONE of the spokespeople. Also shows how RIM can cross boundaries. Different celebs communicating and sharing across BBM or secure email. Browsing their fan pages, watching their videos.

Love it. Have a draft in my office tomorrow by 8, Turtle...

I'm not sure a celeb endorsement is the right way to go. Even if it was a 'professional' type, I don't think it would help sell. BB users are usually more interested in the specs and how the device works (or if they're young people, connecting) so watching someone famous with it probably won't help.
