I got a Bold 9000 from a friend for free. How do I know if the pin and stuff have been released? I put my sim card in and it seems to work. Thanks for the help in advance.

When you set up your dataplan (BlackBerry specific) if the PIN is not released the carrier site will tell you that.
You could also ask the seller if they did in fact release the device from their account. If all else fails, call the carrier (yours or the one the phone is branded to if different)
Solid advice to do this especially so that you will never have to wonder if all is ligit no matter if your SIM is working or not and if the PIN was released.
Thanks for the help. My sim card is with rogers as I have 3 blackberry's already a 9780, 9000, 8520 and now this 9000. This 9000 was also used on a rogers network. So all I have to do is call rogers and see if it is relaesed? Will they release it for me or does my friend have to call? Once again thanks for the help.
The original LAST owner of record that the carrier has is the one who will have to call to make sure the PIN is released and then you will be good to go for sure.
