We use PIN messaging for troubleshooting purposes, and communication purposes if/when our BES or mail server is experiencing an outage.
It's far from an old technology.
Old?
Works for me.
So, what is the better idea?
It's free...
I use it to help people and talk to CB members who are a little uncomfortable giving a complete stranger their email address.

wuts a pin? and were the we get it
were the you add the other ppl one
I *think* I understood that....
You have a pin....type Menu>options>Status to display it. Once others have given you their pins you can add them in the address book in the PIN field and/or send them BB Messenger buddy requests.
I love the PIN system, its great for keeping up with all my fellow CB'ers
I also use it for troubleshooting purposes (and the occassional message).
If I am having a problem activating a device on our BES, one of my troubleshooting steps is to try to send a PIN message to/from the device having the problem.
Also, something you may not know about the PIN message - it is COMPLETELY free internationally. FREE. It is the only thing that is. I've been to Moscow, Koln, and Lima, and it's the only way to talk to your friends back home, or your friends in whichever country you're in.
Most the customer service reps at T-Mobile don't even know about this... I teach most of them that, haha!!
