I have a small question, concern or call it the way you want
I know there is no "known" way to send pin message from the web, or a computer.. but.. I use ING Direct application for my banking stuff, and in my account, i had setted to receive alert to my pin directly.. how can they do that if there is no way from the web/application!?
I believe unless this ING banking app asks for your device PIN which I myself do not know of a program from the web or otherwise that would ask this it cannot be done.
Almost all web based and device apps that allow notifications ask for your email address or use a text based notification which then would be your device phone number.
It might be that the ING app wants your pin to determine what model BB you have (to set the screen size maybe, or maybe to ensure that the person who says they have a BB REALLY have one)-- if the alerts are coming into the ING app it is most likely that they are coming via the Web.

I think if you reread the OPs thread they are asking if a PIN can work. PINS in this case are unique to BBs and RIM in this purpose and used for BBM contacts and sending free messages other than text from BB to BB devices only.
I do not believe that there is an app out there that is as stated before going to ask for a PIN as opposed to email or text notifications.
