Off while sleeping (if it's important people know how to reach me) and when I
don't want to be bothered (dinner, out with family, playing with kids, etc...)
Unfortunately mine HAS to be on 24/7 because I'm on call from my work at all hours. I dream of the day I can go to bed without worrying whether or not I'm going to be rattled out of the sack at 2:00 AM.

i keep mine on 24/7...and my alerts are on 90% of the time...i rarely even put it on vibrate....i like to be able to be reached by those who need me, just in case
I never turn mine off, set it to a low sounding profile, and its connected to the charging stand at night.
I leave it on cause I love using my blackberry, i will answer a call, sms, e-mail in the middle of the night.
Though I do have a program that changes the LED color for a specific person or group, so if i glance at it, I can decide if I should turn on the screen or go back to sleep.
I work with the Avaya Phone system and there is no button to switch off the ringer. There is a Feature button, but no instructions what code to input in order to stop the phone from ringing.
Thanks, I will have a great trip. Yeah it will be two times to turn off the phone, as will be flying on two planes as will have one long layover and same way back to Australia too (that would add up four times to switch off blackberry).
The only time I turn my phone off is when I put it in the locker at the gym or at the skating rink. I opt to turn it off rather than set it to Silent or All Alerts Off because I have BerryBuzz and I don't want the LED blinking for hours, draining the battery - should I have a missed alert.
