    I've noticed everyones screenshots of their home screen has their carriers name on it...Edge, T-Mobile...AT&T... why doesn't Alltel show up on mine???

    Maybe they "buy" from a main carrier, and so they have to brand by un-branding. =)

    Be thankful, most people want to declutter their screens and are not able to.

    If I understand correctly, Alltel is a CDMA service and the others are GMS services.

    The carrier name comes from the SIM card issued by the GSM carrier.

    The Wifi models also display the local network name.
