well the versions that were being sent out by the three of us were tested before submitted so its not like we are supplying a virus. now since alden's files went offline i have a copy of 8310 that i dl from a torrent but i checked everything out and it is legit... so we DO check the files before giving them out. the last thing i would want is for someone's bb to get screwed up

Ya, that's all well and good, but *what if* someone's device does get screwed up? Let's face it, there are people who are using corporate devices (on a BES) who like to 'tinker' with their device and upgrade the OS without knowing what they are doing (I see the posts all the time - "Do I really need to redo my enterprise activation? I don't want my admin to know...").

So now this incompetent person has tried this and you are not their support person.... now what?

I know you didn't MAKE them upgrade - they did it themselves.

I dunno....just seems not all that responsible to me. But what do I know....there is no 4.5 anywhere for CMDA - maybe I'm jealous.

I'll just say it one last time. It's against RIM's copyrights to "supply" the OS's to others. They have contracts with the carriers and they will protect those contracts. You guys do what you want.

I dunno what happen to you 4.5 OS installation, I also install OS 4.5 on my 8310 and using tmobile service.

My googlemap 2.0.1, yahoo go map and mobile gmap, also options>advance option>GPS is working fine, I had confirm googlemap 2.0.3 is not working with OS4.5 on 8310

Mine did not freeze or reboot even one time.

After battery pull, I did not loose any setting.

I also get m.youtube.com, blueapple.mobi, cnn.com video, stream to my BB without any problem.

After you install the new OS, did you install any 3rd party apps or did you restore and backup to the BB?
fresh install. Wiped the berry clean prior to install 4.5. On a side note, i can't even find the "browser." In order for me to surf the net i use media net (att) and it works just fine. I originally tried without a clean install and there was a browser. After that i tried the "fresh" install and now i can't find the browser. Any suggestions?

That's why I have a backup berry I should hope that anyone on here trying to install a BETA version of an operating system realizes the risks before they put their phone in jeopardy anyhow. As far as legality issues are concerned, I think I will sit out on this one

New links on the auto-responder. If you tried the auto-responder in the last 4 days you WILL NOT get a reply (It's just the settings, I can't change it). The website given in the auto-reply has new links. Email me ([email protected]) for that website.

I don't think anyone is allowing anything illegal. It would be the same as accusing the newspaper of being a pimp because it allowed an add for an escort service. I have not seen any live links posted and when people have tried, they have been removed pretty darn quick. I believe these forums are a amazing tool for the free flow of information between users. It's like a buffet, you take what you want and leave the rest behind. I really enjoy reading the comments about the OS and have found it quite useful. Now, I will say if you post a direct advertisment for the software it might be pushing it a bit. Just my thoughts.

I installed it yesterday on my 8310. I noticed, as at least one other did, that I was switching a lot between GSM, edge, gprs and EDGE. Eventually it would stay on edge. Only a battery pull would let me get EDGE back.

However so far today it has been sticking on EDGE. I'm not sure why. Other than that I haven't had much issue. I am happy with the browser and email improvements.

I've installed OS 4.5 on my 8320. I'm not sure if I'll keep it on, or go back to 4.2 and wait for the official release.

I haven't tested everything yet, but....

    1. The new screen fonts are a definite improvement.
    2. JiveTalk works.
    3. Google Maps works.
    4. The Voice Recorder is nice, but it only saves to AMR file format.
    5. It is *still* not possible to attach multiple photos to an email without going through the whole "attach file" dialog.
    6. Video recorder works. My first test video wouldn't play properly on the PC for some reason, but after that I've had no problem. The quality is about what you'd expect.
    7. Video streaming works at blueapple but not m.youtube.com. As someone already pointed out, the high-res option at blueapple doesn't appear, so you get a jerkier, lower frame-rate version of the video.
    8. Browser interface is improved, with a 'go to' box first thing on the opening screen. Performance is good, too.
    9. E-mail....for some reason, the ability to sync deleted mail on the mailbox is gone, and I can't seem to get it back. No one else has mentioned this, in this long thread. I've gone into BIS and re-set the email accounts, and I've done a battery pull, but when I delete an email I am only able to delete it from the device. This is the main reason why I may go back to the earlier version of the OS.

Is anyone else seeing this email problem?

edit: I don't seem to be able to get BBweather working now either. I get a "tunnel timed out" error. This may be due to my ineptness in configuring the program rather than the beta OS, but I did manage to get it working before.

edit edit: never mind, weather works now

edit edit edit: the mail deletion problem is fixed. Either I forgot I had to set each account to "prompt" inidividually in the "reconciliation" menu, or it changed from the previous OS. In any case, it's okay now.

Okay I got it installed, but the one issue that I see right away is that the GMAIL client doesn't see that I have a network connection. Anyone see this? If so, what is the resolution. If not mark it down as bug. More than likely on Google side.

---I uninstalled and reinstalled. All good now.

I don't believe I said anything about anything illegal. Providing a link and hosting the best OSs would be so, this appears only to allow promotion of it.

Ethical behavior and professional standards define the fine line between legal and illegal--that gray area where one's personal principles come to play.

Your a man of your word, I sent him an email and with minute I got a response. Thanks so much. I want to download the OS 4.5 on to my 8320, but with the OS being in Beta, I don't want to mess anything up. Can a user go back and forth between OS and also, I have read that the real OS is coming with the next week on the CRACKBERRY site. I think.
