BlackBerry just has a few more fans than apple. The iPhone 6 will be much more popular with the people who don't care and just make their choices based on friends and the best ad campaign. A few more smartphone enthusiasts probably like the passport a bit more but that's it.

See, and that's the thing. Okay, so CrackBerry "fan boys" showed up and skewed the vote, but it's not like the other platforms don't have their own "fan boys", either. Where were they?

I wind up with two observations about this poll: 1) At least our community is still motivated enough to show up and 2) Maybe there actually IS some popular support for the Passport. Maybe there really are a few thousand voters for whom the Passport really IS the most exciting release this fall.

I wonder how we reconcile this result with the fact that more iPhones were sold last night than Blackberry will sell in the next year.

Correction - It may take them all weekend to reach 10 million - the overnight preorders were screwed up for the Apple Store some of the carriers.

I want BB to succeed as much as the next BB supporter... but this survey don't mean a thing. Even on my twitter TL (I follow approx 1K ppl) the only Passport tweets Ive seen have come from CB members & the official BB accounts.

Apple started running their own "poll" over at store.apple.com last night. It costs $299 to vote. Their servers don't seem to have been able to handle the load. They'll post the results in October.

No I without a doubt do. But I also believe that these polls are meaningless when you have the same person voting 10 times and then act like its some type of victory.

I agree that this poll doesn't really prove much more than community motivation. But even THAT is... interesting.
