Would like to get an OS7 device for wife, but won't burn the upgrade to do so. Might the recent writedown mean a chance to get one on the cheap?

My sense is that Bold is doing OK, but perhaps there is a warehouse full of unloved Torch or Curve phones?

Why don't you call RIM up and ask them if they are going to have a going out of business sale.

Ebay.ca/.com or Amazon.com are great sites to get a BB at a discounted price.

The Write down on inventory is most likely on the 9850/60 models, and on models in India which could have slowed in growth sooner than expected so they are discounting to the carriers to keep the push going

I think the Torch change 9860 price in India reflects a similar drop in price in other countries. The price has dropped to $400 in India.

As we get closer to the release of BB10 we'll probably see huge price drops in the OS7 models since they won't be getting the update.
