I'm thinking of buying a used 9870 because it seems to suit my needs, but should I just wait to get a curve 9360 for free on a new contract (but i have to wait 6 months .

I was wondering if there is a huge advantage to getting the 9360 for the OS 7 or will i be fine for a few years using the OS 6?

I don't browse much but I would like the best bang for my buck.

The new OS 7 devices are very nice but lack access to all of the apps that are available. I own the 9930 and love it! The touch screen keyboard are a great combination that make the new bold a winner.

6 months That's close to when BB10 phones launch

You probably currently have around $100 for device balance. Why don't you see what your carrier has to offer. Maybe you can upgrade to a top line OS7 phone now for the same price of buying an OS6 device used

BB10 is the "beyond" in your title for this thread. It's the first phone that will use RIM's new operating system called QNX. The playbook OS is QNX.

The best BB you can get will be this phone.

If you're getting your first BlackBerry on contract and you can wait 6 months you should wait for this phone, definitely

I'll recommend OS7 devices or if you can wait, the BB10 devices are coming up. So far the 2 models rumoured are either full touchscreen or a slider.

I've used 9700, 9800 and currently the 9900. 9900 beats the previous 2 hands down, well, except for the camera but that's for other posts.

    Definitely get an OS7 device

Get the 9900 if you want a keyboard phone. Talk to your carrier about your options for an early upgrade.

The 9810 is also an excellent phone.

Honestly either will do ya justice by the sound of your use. I like os6. I upgraded to get the 9860 the touch only screen. The 9900 os7 bold is assume and its only $50.
The major differences in os6 and os7 is that the panels are able to be unselected in os7 and the resolution is better in most devices if not all. I dont know about the curve but the bold and torch has better resolution. They have the same ui and themed closely the same. The os7 devices have upgraded hardware. GPUs for graphics and 1.2ghz cpus. A big step up from the 600 mhz cpus of the os6 cpus. Interesting enough though the os6 devices are just as snappy considering what they are working with.

Here in the Philippines, other phones that has a qwerty keypad are called BBwannabe.

Blackberry will always be Blackberry and they've known for their qwerty keyboards so they will definitely provide another phone with a keyboard on it.

I would just buy a used device (at this current time), as BB10 devices are coming in a few months.
